RATE: $44,000 – $60,000 Annually depending on experience

Requirements:

• 1 year of experience as a lead paraprofessional with some curriculum experience
• GED/high school diploma
• IVP fingerprint clearance card
• Pass background checks
• Valid driver’s license
• Pass 3-year MVR
• 18 years or older
• Experience with individuals with autism or other disabilities
• Reliable transportation
• Customer service

Physical Requirements:

• Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
• Physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds to shoulder height
• Must be able to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead
• Exhibit manual dexterity in dialing a telephone
• Exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer terminal
• See and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
• Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors, and on the telephone
• Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone

Working Conditions:

Work will be performed under the following conditions:

• Exposure to climate-controlled classroom settings to outside weather with temperatures ranging from mild/moderate to extreme cold/heat
• May involve exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to very loud on occasional to frequent time periods
• May involve working in crowded environments

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of assessments and observations to determine the areas in which the student may need extra or modified educational services. Assessment areas may include academic performance, behavior, social development, or physical health
• Identify the student’s needs and develop related lesson and teaching plans
• Develop individualized education programs (IEPs) for each student, setting learning goals and adopting modifications as necessary; ensure each student’s activities and lessons are planned and organized according to his/her abilities
• Develop and teach lessons that provide engaging learning opportunities for small groups and individual students while meeting required specifications of IEPs and 504 plans
• Implement IEPs, provide ongoing or follow-up assessments, and continually track progress and make modifications as necessary
• Maintain knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices through professional development and study
• Establish and enforce classroom management structure and rules that ensure the academic engagement and the physical and mental safety of all students
• Celebrate the achievements and successes of students
• Benchmark students SEL + Education
• Create SEL + academic goals for each student
• Establish positive and appropriate relationships with students and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning academic and behavioral progress
• Manage paraprofessionals in the classroom
• Inform parents about their children’s performance and potential problems
• Accreditation tasks as assigned
• Attend professional development up to once a week
• Conduct daily meetings with paraprofessionals
• Initiate student support meetings
• Plan, conduct, and/or participate in training activities and meetings
• Respond to parent communication within one business day
• Perform other duties as assigned

Work Schedule: Monday — Friday; training day and prep time weekly
